We’re so glad you’re considering joining us for worship. Please know that if you already have a church family, we celebrate that and welcome you to visit us anytime. If you do not already have a church family and are looking for somewhere to connect, we would love the opportunity to help you feel welcomed here at Salem UMC. To help you feel more comfortable and at home, below is an explanation of what you can expect on your first visit.
Coffee House Worship Service: This service meets in the church Fellowship Hall at 8:45 am (Click Here for photo). The casual setting encourages people to feel comfortable and be themselves. This service includes free coffee and breakfast snacks while gathering at round tables to encourage conversation before worship and friendship during. We project our scriptures and songs to enhance service participation while being led with guitar by our Coffee House Service Worship Leader. Each weeks service concludes with the sacrament of Holy Communion (we welcome everyone to come at 9:40 am-9:45 am and share this sacrament with us).
Sunday School & Bible Classes: Beginning at 9:50 am on Sundays we offer a variety of Bible classes (for a list of classes Click Here). Children and youth meet upstairs, the nursery is on the first floor adjacent to the Fellowship Hall and the rest of the adult classes are throughout the first floor. Traditional Worship Service: This service meets in the sanctuary at 11:00 am (Click Here for photo). Our choir assists in welcoming us into a worshipful space through special music and leading us in traditional hymns. We provide a display screen to enhance the experience and enable everyone to comfortably read along with scriptures & songs. We receive the holy sacrament of communion on the first Sunday of each month.
First Sunday of the Month Covered Dish Lunch: A potluck lunch is served on the first Sunday of the month, immediately following the 11:00 am Traditional Worship service in the Fellowship Hall (Click Here for photo). If you don’t get a chance to bring a dish to share, please still feel welcome to eat with us. What we affectionately call "Lunch Bunch" gives us the opportunity to get better acquainted while catching up with what is happening in each other's lives.
